Young Photographer Award
✦ Announcement✦
As part of the Helsinki Analog Festival, the Finnish Darkroom Association, together with the Finnish Museum of Photography, organises the Young Photographer Award for photographers aged 16–21 living in Finland. This is the second edition of the award; the first took place in 2022 as part of the Helsinki Darkroom Festival.
The award encourages young people to explore analog photography and its possibilities. It supports young photographers in developing their own visual expression and offers a platform to present their work.
One winner and two finalists are selected through an open call. The three finalists will have the opportunity to experiment with different analog photography and darkroom printing techniques using materials donated by the competition’s sponsors and partners, including printing paper, film rolls and analog cameras. They will also receive a gift card for a darkroom workshop organised by the Finnish Darkroom Association.
The finalists will be announced on 18 April at the Central Library Oodi during the Helsinki Analog Festival’s panel talk and public discussions, where the awards will also be presented.
The partners and sponsors of the award are JAS Tekniikka, Interfoto Oy, Telefoto Oy, Rajala Pro Shop, Kamerastore and Lomography.
The jury consists of Iina Gröhn and Natalia Kopkina (Finnish Darkroom Association), and Valtteri Heinonen and Karun Verma (Finnish Museum of Photography).
